With President Barack Obama in attendance, the teams competed on Friday, November 11, 2011, in the Quicken Loans Carrier Classic on board the U.S.S. Carl Vinson (CVN-70) stationed at Naval Base Coronado near San Diego, Calif. for Veterans Day. The Tar Heels defeated the Spartans 67-55.

The Spartans defeated the Badgers, 37-31, on a touchdown pass from senior quarterback Kirk Cousins and caught by senior wide receiver Keith Nichol as time expired on Saturday night at Spartan Stadium.
