The Michigan State Spartans played the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in the first ever college basketball game on a United State military vessel. With President Barack Obama in attendance, the teams competed on Friday, November 11, 2011, in the Quicken Loans Carrier Classic on board the U.S.S. Carl Vinson (CVN-70) stationed at Naval Base Coronado near San Diego, Calif. for Veterans Day. The Tar Heels defeated the Spartans 67-55.
